Kathy Krain

Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor

Kathy Krain is a dedicated Iyengar Yoga teacher with over two decades of personal practice and a deep commitment to therapeutic, alignment-based yoga.

Her journey with Iyengar Yoga began in 2004 following a back injury—an experience that profoundly shaped her approach to teaching and practice. During this time, she had the rare opportunity to study with Mary Dunn, whose clarity and depth introduced her to the therapeutic intelligence of the Iyengar method. This experience revealed yoga not merely as movement, but as a precise system of healing, awareness, and transformation.

Since beginning to teach in 2015, Kathy has guided students with a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach that reflects her long-standing study of the method. She teaches from a private studio in North Miami, Florida, offering individualized attention and carefully structured classes rooted in alignment, safety, and progressive learning.

Kathy’s background as a full-time television audio engineer, combined with her lifelong experience as a dancer, student, and mother, informs her teaching in subtle yet powerful ways. These disciplines cultivated a deep sensitivity to rhythm, precision, observation, and structure—qualities that naturally align with the principles of Iyengar Yoga. Over time, the practice seamlessly integrated these diverse experiences into a unified, embodied discipline.

She has had the privilege of studying at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India—the heart of the Iyengar tradition—and continues to study regularly with senior Iyengar teachers worldwide. Her ongoing education reflects a lifelong dedication to learning, refinement, and respect for the lineage.

Kathy’s teaching is grounded in patience, clarity, and intelligent sequencing, supporting students of all levels—particularly those seeking therapeutic benefits, injury-aware practice, and a deeper understanding of yoga.

"Given practice and detachment, one has the chance to begin to permeate your being with balance. Not only physically but mentally as well.   They are the two pillars of yoga."

"The frontal brain is analytical, the back is reasoning, the bottom stem is pleasure and pain, and the top is the individual eye, the ego.  Yoga teaches us a path to silence all."

"The current flow of blood and nerves need to flow unrestricted.  Stand or do asanas so that the brain does not osculate."
